COLLEGE SERIES: Tips on dealing with STRESS!

Hi lovelies! I have had a crazy past few weeks being sick and apparently this sickness was caused by stress?! Oh yeah stress can do that ๐Ÿ™‚ and chronic stress is really quite bad for your health so finding ways to relax and be effective in school and life is IMPORTANT!

What can stress do to you?

  • HURT YOUR BODY. You can get stomach pains, body aches, weaken your immune system=sickness, lower your happy levels, raise blood pressure, ruin your sleep, cause mood swings, damage your skin, the list goes ON!

So stress can do everything you do not want to happen so here are some tips I have for facing and dealing with your stress! (especially now it`s the end of the semester) Side Note- a certain level of stress is good for you, but once you go over that level you are much more susceptible to mental and physical problems!

Tip 1:

Try to breathe. This sounds obvious but it actually is very effective. Deep, long breaths help reduce acidity in your body, you do not want acid having a party in your body. Take time in your day (even 7 minutes is effective) to just breathe! Tip 2:

Organize. Make to-do lists and plan ahead for the day to make sure you get all your assignments in with enough time for each. Being more organized will easily decrease your stress!

Tip 3:

MOVE. You have to move your body! Do not sit at a computer for an entire day. Get up go for a walk or run or a quick 15 min workout. Your body was made to move and release energy! Even stretching will help you relax.

Tip 4:

Turn away from social media. UNPLUG. Focus on what you need to get done and manage priorities. I personally find myself glued to my phone screen and before I know it I wasted an hour or two, so try to step away from the social media and focus!

Tip 5

TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF BOO. Drink 3-4 liters of water a day, try your best to get good sleep, and realize some things are just not worth the stress. If you can`t fit in a work out, that is fine! (try to move somewhat tho!) If you end up munching on cookies, OKAY! No one is perfect and your health will always be the most important thing so make sure you are doing what YOU need to do to help yourself! I love face masks, bubble baths and stretching to help me feel better. (Like this if you want to see a home made natural face mask!!)

Overall- these are super simple ideas for those who deal with stress or even anxiety. Find a hobby, go for a walk, breathe, organize, plan, eat well, sleep well, take care of your mental and physical self! Another note is to eat alkaline foods and stay away from cortisol increasing foods like caffeine. I wanted to bring this up because I learned so much in class this semester about what stress does to you and recently have found myself struggling to deal with it. What do you do to de-stress?
